Jeff Anderson - When Reading and Writing Collide Teaching Grammar and Editing Effectively (14 July 2017)
FRIDAY 14 JULY - TAUPO
Places still available
Jeff’s workshops were sold out during his 2015 tour – so early registration is imperative!
Does teaching the conventions of language leave you languishing?
Have you discovered that correcting is not teaching?
Take a deeper look at the invitational method of teaching grammar and editing - invitations to notice, compare and contrast, imitate,
and apply. It’s commonplace to make grammar sound difficult, our challenge is to make it sound easy.
I want students to focus on the conventions for the power and craft that hold, thinking and making meaning. Students can construct
meaning and leave our classes with confidence and competence.
Come think about how we can engage students in the meaning-making process using literature as the invitation. After all, grammar and
conventions are the reading-writing connection.
